USPS Announces Temporary Holiday Shipping Price Adjustments Effective October 5, 2025

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced temporary price changes for select package services during the 2025 holiday shipping season. These adjustments, approved by the USPS Board of Governors on August 7, will impact Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, and Parcel Select. No other products or services will be affected.

Pending approval from the Postal Regulatory Commission, the new rates will take effect at midnight Central Time on Sunday, October 5, 2025, and remain in place until midnight Central Time on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

Why the Price Changes?

The temporary adjustments are designed to help USPS cover increased handling costs during the busiest shipping period of the year. They also align USPS retail and commercial pricing more closely with competitive market practices.

As part of the Delivering for America 10-year plan, the seasonal pricing strategy aims to strengthen USPS financially while ensuring its ability to provide reliable, six-day-a-week service nationwide.
