USPS Honors America’s Past with “Battlefields of the American Revolution” Stamp Dedication
On April 16, the U.S. Postal Service proudly dedicated its Battlefields of the American Revolution Forever stamp series at Minute Man National Historical Park in Concord, Massachusetts — the historic site of the first battle of the American Revolution.
A Tribute to the Nation’s Founding
“These stamps celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation and pay tribute to the heroes who fought and sacrificed for American independence,” said Judy de Torok, USPS Corporate Affairs Vice President, during the ceremony.
De Torok was joined by several distinguished guests, including:
- Lt. Col. Geoffrey Love, Director of Historical Services for the Massachusetts National Guard
- Paul O’Shaughnessy, Master of Ceremonies and Board President of Friends of Minute Man National Historical Park
- Simone Monteleone, Superintendent of the park
“Having the ceremony at the site of the opening battle of the American Revolution provides another opportunity for visitors to participate in the 250th anniversary,” Monteleone shared.
A Stamp Series Rich in History
The pane of 15 Forever stamps features five pivotal Revolutionary War battles:
- Lexington and Concord
- Bunker Hill
- Trenton
- Saratoga
- Yorktown
Each row of the stamp pane is dedicated to one battle, visually capturing the turning points of the war that shaped America’s fight for freedom.
In the upper-right corner of the pane is an iconic quote from patriot writer Thomas Paine, written just before the Battle of Trenton:
“These are the times that try men’s souls.”
Artistic Design Meets Historical Legacy
The stamps were designed by USPS Art Director Derry Noyes, with illustrations by Greg Harlin and photography contributions from Jon Bilous, Richard Lewis, Tom Morris, Gregory J. Parker, and Kevin Stewart. The result is a stunning collection that honors the spirit and sacrifice of the Revolution.
The Battlefields of the American Revolution Forever stamps are now available at local Post Offices and online at usps.com.
